Discover the peace and wilderness of the Gorges area of the French Azur Alps. Ride your electric bike through canyons and villages perched high above the Verdon, with breathtaking panoramic views.

Pedal in complete serenity on this little-travelled route, with its rejuvenating natural surroundings. The route offers magnificent views of the canyons of the Gorges du Verdon and takes you through villages with their Provençal charm still intact. Take a break in one of the many natural pools of crystal-clear water along the way.

DAY 1 – LOOP ON THE MYTHICAL ROUTE DES CRÊTES

After collecting your electric bike from our partner in Rougon, you’ll set off on your first loop along the Route des Crêtes. This spectacular canyon, forged by the Verdon over the years, offers breathtaking views from 14 lookouts along the way. On your return, you’ll have the chance to make some final adjustments to your bike before setting off for your evening accommodation in La Bastide. The route also promises to be sumptuous, with some of the finest viewpoints in the gorges, such as the ‘Point sublime’. Once you arrive at the hotel, the restaurant’s chef will be delighted to share his culinary talents with you with a gourmet dinner (optional).

DAY 2 – ROUTE DES CLUES AND THE NATURAL POOLS OF AIGLUN

You join the Route des Clues, a route renowned for its natural and cultural wealth, reflecting millions of years of geological events in its rock. Along the way, you’ll also pass through villages steeped in Provençal charm such as Briançonnet, Sallagriffon and Sigale. Take the time to visit them!
When you arrive at Aiglun, your refreshment point for the night, don’t miss the chance to take a dip in its famous natural pools to recharge your batteries after this sporting day.

DAY 3 – CLIMBING IN MOUNTAIN AREA

On the 3rd day of this cycling tour, you will first follow the course of the Esteron river, before climbing to an altitude of 1360 m to discover some magnificent mountain scenery. Up there, you can see the Vauplane pastures before embarking on a well-earned descent with a breathtaking view of the Chaudanne and Castillon lakes, where you can cool off a little further down. Shortly afterwards, you’ll arrive in Rougon to return your electric bikes.

What equipment is provided if I choose the electric bike rental option?

This option includes
– hire of the electric bike with all the equipment required for road use (reflectors, lights, etc.)
– a charger for the bike’s battery
– a helmet
– a padlock
– two 20-litre cycling bags for your personal belongings

Can I do the cycling tour on a muscle bike?

Yes, you can do the tour on a muscle bike. The experience becomes much more athletic, so it’s recommended to be in excellent physical condition. Note that the journey times indicated may be longer. If you wish to take this option, please contact us when booking the cycling tour.

Can I bring my own bike for the tour?

Yes, you can bring your own equipment for the cycling tour. In this case, do not select the ‘Electric bike rental’ option when booking.
However, please ensure that your equipment is in excellent working conditions, properly equipped for road use and able to withstand 3 days of cycling. Please also bring your own cycling bag and helmet for the tour.

What are the physical conditions needed to go on this cycling tour in the Gorges du Verdon?

This is a cycling tour with relatively long stages (60 to 70 km per day). The electric assistance does not fully compensate for the physical effort involved and it will not be possible to use it at maximum power throughout the stages, so it is recommended that you are in good physical shape and in good health to take part in this trip. Note also that if you have not chosen the luggage transfer option, you will have to pedal with the weight of your bike bags filled with your personal belongings.

What about luggage transfer?

Luggage transfer (available as an option) includes transport for one piece of luggage of reasonable size and weight. You will have access to your luggage each evening when you arrive at your accommodation.

What are the selected accomodations for the cycling tour in Verdon Gorges?

We organise your accommodation in a lodge or hotel for 2 nights. For people travelling alone, we group participants together in shared rooms. For two people or more, we will do our best to ensure that you have a private room whenever possible. Where this is not possible, we provide comfortable dormitory accommodation. Sheets and blankets are provided, so please bring your own towels and toiletries.

How are meals organised during my stay?

Breakfast is included in your stay. If you choose the picnic and/or dinner options, the gîtes and hotels will prepare your meals for you. So you can enjoy a hearty dinner at the end of each day. Picnics will be distributed to you each morning, and you can enjoy them on the way at each stage.

Will there be network connexion during the tour?

The 2 accommodations on each stage have WIFI. Your roadbook will give you information on the network available at each stage. This service is beyond our control and may be unpredictable in mountainous areas.We therefore cannot guarantee it.

How do I register?

You can register online by paying a deposit of 30% of the total cost of your holiday. Our teams will send you a payment link for the balance on D-15.
You can choose your luggage transfer and meal options at the time of booking. Payment for these options will take place at a later stage once the quote has been accepted.

What if I need an extra night on departure or arrival at La Palud-sur-Verdon?

You can choose this option when booking. We will contact you to suggest the best option for your budget and the season.

What happens in case of bad weather or poor conditions for the tour?

The activities you are about to undertake are subject to weather risks. Verdon Voyages may therefore decide to cancel or modify part of the activity. Such cancellations are rare. Similarly, unforeseen high winds may lead Verdon Voyages to cancel the activity for safety reasons. In this case, we will propose an alternative route depending on the weather conditions.

Cancellation policy:

  • Before D-180: Full refund

  • Between D-180 and D-61: a handling fee of 5% of the reservation amount will be retained.

  • Between D-60 and D-8: the deposit paid at the time of booking will be retained.

  • After D-7: no refund will be made in the event of cancellation.

We therefore encourage you to plan your stay carefully and take all the necessary precautions to avoid any unforeseen cancellations.
